Hi there!

Welcome to another much-needed update — all the lowdown for Statesman in the upcoming summer months and fall semester.

First off, The Statesman was recently recognized at a couple of campus awards functions, including a Second/Third Place Editing award for our Editor-in-chief Lynn and our Sports editor Shonto. Contributing writer Anthony Dobrini’s article on the TLT’s new “Print From Anywhere” initiative for our April 24 issue won an award for Best News Article.

Great job everyone! – especially to all of our media cohorts down in that dank “dungeon” media wing we share. See you at next year’s Campus Media Awards! Get ready for some more awesome competition soon!

Next, this summer, we”ll hopefully be able to publish some new articles and updates so if you want to submit any articles to us, let us know. E-mail section editors directly or the EIC for more general inquiries and we’ll see if we can put together a couple of full issues — either in print, online, or both.

We’ll be recruiting this coming fall as we do every semester, but we accept join staff forms online through our website all year long so no need to wait if you know you want to write, edit, help us with layout, photography, and otherwise manage production next semester! We’re looking forward to your ongoing support and participation!

We appreciate all of your readership this past year. Know that we are always working to make The Statesman that much more better and outstanding. We need your help too so if you’re interested, we welcome all the extra hands on board!

News Meeting: 7pm - 8pm

Sunday - Feb. 24

Production: 6pm - 11 pm whenever

We don’t have production tonight (yes!) but tomorrow, Thursday, we’ll be having a news meeting from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m., so if you’re a writer and you want to come down, please do.

After that there’s production on Sunday which may just last till morning, so you can come down after 6 p.m. and most likely we’ll be there.
